MIA is the long awaited solution for instant money transferring using only the phone number of the receiver for the Moldovan market developed by the National Bank of Moldova.

MIA is not a stand alone application. It is integrated in the apps of banks and financial service providers. So the primary task was to create a symbol that will not loose its recognizability in different mediums, sizes and appearances adapted to the UI and identity of those apps. The pluralism of elements in the symbol and a inclusive color palette stands for the variety of financial actors on the market and allows for some variation.

Blobs represent people and the dynamic relationships between them like sharing, dividing, borrowing, in turns or simultaneously. Then there is the physical shape of the coin that is still embedded in the zeroes of a digital signal. Either way, money move, always, as a given of a thriving economic life. Finally there is the double meaning for the word MIA in Romanian, which apart from a name is also a number – thousand, and thousands have lots of zeroes.

The identity can be flexible in terms of visual communication. It can speak the abstract language through geometric shapes and colors, it can incorporate imagery or it can speak through characters that make the message more relatable.
